Apple has launched its latest smartphones the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max in the iPhone 14 series Globally, which is the successor of the iPhone 13 series. All these phones support 5G and come with the latest A16 Bionic chip, Dynamic Island, a new 48MP camera, an Always-On display, and more. These have Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite present in the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus.
The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max come with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion tech that supports an adaptive refresh rate from 10Hz to 120Hz and the first-time Always-On display with a new 1Hz refresh rate and multiple power-efficient technologies. It offers the same peak HDR brightness level as Pro Display XDR of up to 2000 nits, which is twice as bright the as iPhone 13 Pro. These retain the Ceramic Shield front cover.
While the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus come with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED Super Retina XDR displays with a 60Hz refresh rate and higher peak brightness for HDR at 1200 nits. These also have HDR support and Dolby Vision, the same as the predecessor.
A16 Bionic Chip -
The new A16 Bionic chip has a 6-core CPU with two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, and is up to 40% faster than the competition, as per Apple. It has an accelerated 5-core GPU with 50% more memory bandwidth and a new 16-core Neural Engine capable of nearly 17 trillion operations per second.
The CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, and image signal processor seamlessly work together to support the new camera hardware and perform up to 4 trillion operations per photo, said Apple.
Cameras -
The iPhone 14 Pro comes with an all-new 48MP primary rear camera with a quad-pixel sensor that combines every four pixels into one large quad pixel equivalent to 2.44 µm at 12MP and has second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization. The quad-pixel sensor also enables a 2x Telephoto option that uses the middle 12 megapixels of the sensor for full-resolution photos and 4K videos with no digital zoom. It also supports ProRAW at 48MP.
The new 12MP Ultra Wide camera has 1.4 µm pixels and improved macro photography capabilities. The improved Telephoto camera comes with 3x optical zoom. The new front TrueDepth camera with an ƒ/1.9 aperture enables better low-light performance for photos and video. A new Adaptive True Tone flash that has been completely redesigned with an array of nine LEDs that change pattern based on the chosen focal length.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature a new 12MP primary rear camera with a larger sensor and larger pixels, a new front TrueDepth camera along with the Ultra Wide camera to capture more of a scene, and a Photonic Engine that improves mid- to low-light performance for photos across all cameras. The True Tone flash is 10% brighter and has better uniformity for more consistent lighting compared to the predecessor.
There is a new feature Action mode for the incredibly smooth-looking video that adjusts to significant shakes, motion, and vibrations, even when the video is being captured in the middle of the action.
Dynamic Island -
The iPhone 14 Pro models feature a new Dynamic Island that adapts in real-time to show important alerts, notifications, and activities. With a smaller notch, the TrueDepth camera takes up less of the display area. Dynamic Island maintains an active state to allow users easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold without impeding content on the screen. Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of Dynamic Island.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series will be available from September 16th and the iPhone 14 Plus will be available starting from October 7th through Apple Authorized Resellers, including in India. The iPhone 14 series pre-orders are starting from September 9th at 5:30 PM IST.
