The Apple App Store has crossed a major milestone. There have been more than 50 Billion apps downloaded from the App Store since its launch 5 years ago in July 2008. To bring in into perspective, there are about 7 Billion people on Earth, which means the number of apps downloaded from the Apple App Store is more than 7 times the population of Earth.
Apple had also been running a contest, through which one lucky winner who downloaded the 50 Billionth app will get $10,000 and thereafter the next 50 downloaders will get $500 worth of gift cards. The results are not out yet, but you can have a look at the source link to find who won.
The Google Play Store too is not that far behind with about 48 Billion app downloads, we might see Google cross that mark in the next year as well.
