Android N shall now forever be known as Android Nougat. Google has just announced the official name of the next version of Android.
The company at I/O had started receiving naming suggestions from the public on the name for Android N and now we have the final name. Nougat is the next dessert-themed name for the mobile OS.

There are many new changes coming with Android Nougat including split-screen multitasking, quick-reply in notifications, and improvements in Doze mode for better battery-life. Then there's support for DayDream VR baked into the OS itself alongwith Vulkan API for better graphics/physics in gaming.
