Today, Airtel has officially launched its 5G services which it is calling ‘Airtel 5G plus’ in 8 cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, and Varanasi. After announcing the 5G services in 8 cities at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022.
According to Airtel, it will roll out the services in these cities in a phased manner as it constructs its network and completes the rollout. Customers who have 5G smartphones will enjoy the high-speed Airtel 5G Plus on their existing data plans until the rollout is more widespread, said the company.
It will cover all of urban India in 2023 and across the country by March 2024. Since the existing Airtel 4G SIM will convert to 5G enabled, no SIM change is needed to enjoy 5G services.
