Samsung India today launched a new mid-range smartphone in the country. The Galaxy On7 Prime improves upon its predecessor with 13-megapixel front and rear cameras along with more powerful internals.
The biggest highlight here, however, is Samsung Mall. Based on Bixby Vision it lets you shop by capturing images of products you see in the wild. It's a novel idea and has been implemented before by the likes of both Google and Amazon. This involves both Augmented Reality and object detection with machine learning to search for the actual product in the store. You can buy products from Amazon using the Samsung Mall experience.
Coming back the smartphone, the Galaxy On7 Prime comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p full-HD display running on the Exynos 7880 octa-core processor. You can choose between two storage variants and two colors. There's a 3GB RAM variant with 32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM option with 64GB storage. You can expand storage on both by up to 256GB. The Galaxy On7 Prime will be available in gold and black color options.
On the software front, we still have Android 7.1 Nougat running the show. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G VoLTE, WiFi, BlueTooth, FM Radio, NFC, and GPS.
The unibody metal construction houses a 3300 mAh battery along with dedicated slots for the two SIM cards and microSD card.
The best part about the phone is that you get a f/1.9 aperture 13-megapixel front camera. Most phones in the segment lack proper selfie cameras, where the Galaxy On7 Prime is expected to shine. There's a 13-megapixel rear camera as well, capable of recording 1080p videos.
The Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime has been priced at Rs. 12990 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 14,990 for the 4GB RAM option. It will be available on Amazon.in exclusively starting January 20th. You can also avail 20% off with Amazon Pay and Rs. 2000 cashback for Jio users. The Jio cashback offer will be given in two stages Rs. 800 after the first 12 months, and Rs. 1200 after a total of 24 months from date of purchase, provided you do 13 recharges every 12 months.
