Along with the new Touch Bar equipped MacBook Pro 13 and 15-inch models, Apple also launched a more traditional MacBook Pro with physical function and escape keys. The new MacBook Pro 13 priced at Rs. 1,29,900 ($1499) is 13 percent smaller in volume than even the MacBook Air weighing the same at 3 pounds (1.3 Kg.)
Even though the entry-level MacBook Pro doesn't have the fancy TouchBar, you still get upgraded internals and ports. There are two Thunderbolt 3 ports, faster 6th-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 to choose from and Intel Iris Pro graphics with 8GB RAM. You can choose from 256GB of SSD storage to 1TB. You still have the new giant Force Touch trackpad here as well and the brighter Retina display as on the more expensive MBP. The second-gen Butterfly Keyboard also makes it to the entry-level variant.
In a way, Apple is killing the older 13-inch MacBook Air given it had an outdated display and old internals. Instead, with the new 13-inch MBP you are getting faster internals and a higher resolution retina display, although you would be sacrificing a few ports. Apple will continue selling the $999 MacBook Air making it the most affordable laptop in its portfolio with all day battery life.
You can pick the 13-inch MacBook Pro (without Touchbar) in the US starting today.
